Iraq and America discuss prosecution role in fighting corruption

Prosecution chief Mowaffaq al-Obeidi discussed with a delegation of the US embassy in Iraq the role of the prosecution in the fight against corruption, while the Diyala Criminal Court sentenced to death by hanging to death a terrorist who was convicted of killing 19 people in a village in the province.

"The head of public prosecution received a delegation from the US Embassy in Iraq," the spokesman of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Abdul Sattar Birqdar, said in a statement. "The delegation included the US Attorney General's annexation, Basset, and the second secretary of human rights at the Office of Political Affairs, .

"The two sides discussed during the meeting the role of the prosecution, especially with regard to human rights issues in the country, as well as the issues of terrorism and its role in the fight against corruption," Berkdar said.

On the other hand, the Criminal Court of Diyala sentenced to death by hanging to death a terrorist who was convicted of killing 19 people in an attack with an armed group on a village in the province.

"The first body of the Diyala Criminal Court sentenced to death one of those convicted of terrorism after committing criminal acts and belonging to the al-Qaeda terrorist organization," Berkdar said in another statement.
