    The representative of the United Nations in Iraq, Nikolai Mladenov on Wednesday that more than 65 billion dollars looted from Iraq between 2001 and 2010, against corruption requires action at two levels: first, local and international.

    Mladenov said at the opening of the Baghdad International Forum against corruption, that funds looted from Iraq between 2001 and 2010 exceeded 65 billion dollars by the International Monetary Fund.

    The face of corruption requires action at two levels: first, local establishing rules law and tighter controls, auditing and accounting, noting that the other is level, and is in close cooperation and compliance with the provisions of the United Nations agreements and insurance requirements implemented through national legislation consistent with the provisions of the Convention.

    The representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Nikolai Miladinov, on Thursday, that the whole community of nations and the United Nations Development Programme will continue to stand with the people of Iraq and his government in the fight against corruption.

    said Miladinov in a statement received "tomorrow Press", on the sidelines of the opening session acts of the second annual session of the Forum Baghdad International on recovery of funds looted organized by the Integrity Commission, "The United Nations put the accountability, transparency and anti-corruption position seriously on the international and regional levels.

    " and added that "corruption is a virus infects societies in transition where hinder peace-building efforts and state-building and undermine confidence in public institutions, and it robs the dignity of the people and their development and deprives them of basic services, "pointing out that" corruption strengthens organized crime and financed violence and terrorism.

    " He Miladinov that "the whole community of nations and the United Nations Development Programme will continue to stand with the people and Government of Iraq in the fight against corruption.

    " The Iraqi government and in partnership with the National Commission for the integrity of the United Nations Development Programme has recently launched a new initiative to recover funds looted and increased cooperation with law enforcement authorities in other countries in order to detect and track the confiscation and recovery of the looted money.
